Stainless steel suture is composed of 316L stainless steel conforming to ASTM Standard F138 Grade 2 stainless steel bar and wire for surgical implants. Stainless Steel suture is the most inert among all suture materials and provides maximum tensile strength. Indicated for use in abdominal wound closure, intestinal anastomosis, hernia repair, sternal closure, and certain orthopedic procedures (cerclage or tendon repair). Stainless Steel suture is a monofilament strand available in sizes 6-0 through 7 (metric sizes 0.7-9). The suture is supplied sterile in precut lengths attached to various needle types in one- to three-dozen boxes, or non-needled on ligating reels.
